The chair “MASHILO” is made entirely of cypress wood from Hiroshima Prefecture (Shohara City) and is designed to promote forest recycling.
After the war, the coniferous trees planted across Japan for shrines, temples, and houses are currently not being cut down, but instead using cheap wood from overseas.
The aim was to promote the circulation of the forest by using large quantities of cypress wood that had not been used for furniture until now. After the order, we aim to continue to convey the current status of Japan’s forests through the practice of forest recycling while increasing the number of products.
